Tornado warnings clearing across St. Louis region; watches through 9 p.m.

ST. LOUIS – The greater St. Louis region got its first taste of nasty spring weather on Thursday, as the National Weather Service issued several tornado warnings throughout the day, sending tens of thousands of residents scrambling for cover.

The severe weather brought baseball-sized hail, powerful winds, and tornado threats, according to the NWS.

Radar indicated tornadoes in several counties Thursday afternoon. The tornado warnings began to dissipate by 6 p.m.

The entire region was placed under a tornado watch until 9 p.m.
