ST. LOUIS — Two separate shootings occurred in North St. Louis, resulting in one woman’s death and another woman being injured. As of now, authorities have not identified any suspects in connection with either incident.
The first shooting took place on the 4600 block of Pope in the Penrose neighborhood. Police were called to the scene around 8 p.m., where they discovered a 48-year-old woman with gunshot wounds to her head and shoulder. She was pronounced dead at the scene, prompting homicide detectives to take over the investigation. The identity of the deceased woman has yet to be released.
Later in the evening, another shooting was reported on the 5000 block of Thrush in the Walnut Park East area. This incident, which occurred just before 10 p.m., is being investigated as a first-degree assault. A 33-year-old woman was found with a gunshot wound to her right forearm. She was conscious and breathing when she was taken to the hospital.
Currently, there is no indication from the police that the two shootings are related, other than both victims being female. The investigations into both shootings are ongoing.
