St. Clair Bowl shooting injures two people

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. — Police were called to the St. Clair Bowl Sunday night after a fight led to a shooting. Two people were struck by bullets and were taken to the hospital. Their injuries were not life-threatening.

Earlier that evening, large fights broke out between juveniles in the bowling alley parking lot. Police were called and broke them up and there were no serious injuries.

Police tell FOX 2 that they were called to the bowling alley for a report of shots fired at around 9:45 p.m. The St. Clair Bowl says that a large group of young people came into the building at around closing time and were “causing trouble.”

The police say that an altercation between two people led to the shooting. The bullets struck two other people. The shooters left before the police arrived.

Illinois State Police were called to help with the investigation. They helped process several shell casings found in several locations inside the bowling alley. O’Fallon police detectives are reviewing surveillance video and interviewing witnesses. They are trying to identify the shooting suspects.
