BUFFALO, N.Y. – Drake took time to share an emotional message during his concert in Buffalo earlier this week, paying respects to a mother and daughter killed in a crash after his St. Louis show two weeks ago.

Authorities say a speeding driver fatally struck Laticha Bracero, 42, and Alyssa Cordova, 21, on Feb. 14 as they were leaving a Drake concert.

Nearly two weeks later, Drake acknowledged the situation in St. Louis during his show at Buffalo’s KeyBank Center, according to TMZ and other national news outlets.

“Rest in peace to that young mother and her child,” said Drake during one break in between songs.

The HipHopDX organization shared a video of Drake’s message via X (formerly Twitter). Leading up to his mention of the mother and daughter, Drake offered a somber reminder about life and reminded his audience to cherish it.

“You never know what somebody else’s reality will be when they walk out of this building,” said Drake. “I want you to turn to somebody you do not know. I want you to look them in the eyes. I want you to prove that you’re grateful for your life. I want you to take five seconds out of your day to make somebody else’s day. Just show somebody love. You never know what comes next.”

In relation to the crash, prosecutors have charged Monte Henderson, 22, with two counts of first-degree involuntary manslaughter and two counts of armed criminal action in the deaths of Bracero and Cordova, both who were visiting St. Louis from Chicago. Henderson has since been released from custody on bond, but is currently ordered to house arrest.

The crash happened around 12:30 a.m. on Feb. 14 at North 18th and Olive streets, near city police headquarters, in Downtown West.

Police reports allege that Henderson was traveling at 70 miles an hour and ran at least one red light prior to the crash. The City of St. Louis is considering a new red light camera proposal following the collision.

NOTE: Video is from a FOX 2 report on Feb. 27 on legal proceedings in the crash.
