ST. LOUIS – Two men are facing a federal indictment for a fatal shooting in January.
The shooting took place on the evening of January 28 at an apartment in the 900 block of Goodfellow Boulevard, in the city’s West End neighborhood.
St. Louis police arrived at the scene and found a man in his 20s with gunshot wounds in the apartment. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim was found in a nearby apartment on Cabanne Townhome Drive. That victim was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg.
On February 9, prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri charged Derrick D. Clark, 19, and Jeremiah M. Sutton, 22, with one count of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute controlled substances and one count of aiding and abetting the discharge of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
Clark was arrested on February 22. Sutton remains at large.
If convicted, the drug conspiracy charge carries a maximum penalty of up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine. The discharge of a firearm charge carries a sentence between 10 years and life, plus a $250,00 fine.
