ST. LOUIS – A former St. Louis Metropolitan Police officer was found guilty of domestic assault following a trial on February 27. Ricardo George Williams, 41, of Warrenton, was convicted of domestic assault and violating an order of protection.
On January 8, 2023, Williams forced his way into the victim’s home and grabbed her by the throat. Williams and the victim were in a relationship at the time.
The St. Louis County Circuit Court also found that on March 6, 2023, Williams was aware that he was under an order of protection issued by the St. Louis County Circuit Court, which prohibited him from communicating with the victim in any way. Despite this order, Williams knowingly ignored it by texting the victim.
The office’s Conviction and Incident Review Unit, an independent unit that Wesley Bell established in 2018 to prosecute police officers and other public servants and to examine the validity of prior convictions, handled the case.
The court has scheduled sentencing for 3 p.m. on April 11.
