ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – Historians gathered Saturday afternoon for the first of two days dedicated to sharing the stories of St. Louis’ freedom fighters.
The first day of an event called Fight For Freedom was held at the North County Recreation Complex on Redman Avenue. The event is free and aims to give attendees a look into the history of St. Louis.
Historians reflected on the impact of Dred and Harriett Scott, Reverend Elijah P. Lovejoy and William Wells Brown. One exhibit called Slavery in St. Louis offers more historical context, showing the lives of those who went against slavery.
The exhibit will also be open from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, click here.
