WASHINGTON COUNTY, Mo. – One person was killed and three others were hurt in a two-car crash Friday evening in Washington County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
MSHP reports that Douglas Andrea, 54, of Cadet, Missouri, died in the crash. Next of kin has been notified.
The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. Friday on Missouri Route 21 near Golden Rod Road, nearly 70 miles south of St. Louis. One driver was heading northbound, and another driver was heading southbound.
A MSHP crash report states that Andrea was driving the southbound vehicle when he lost control on an icy patch of the roadway. The car spun and entered the northbound lane, striking the side of another vehicle.
Andrea was pronounced deceased at the scene. His passenger suffered serious injuries while two people in the northbound vehicle suffered minor injuries, according to the crash report.
MSHP Troop C, which covers much of the St. Louis region, is investigating the crash.
