ST. LOUIS — St. Louis Blues fans filed into the Enterprise Center Thursday night with mixed emotions.  For some, their hearts remained heavy for those affected by Wednesday’s tragic shooting in Kansas City.  Others said they would not let the tragedy keep them from attending a sporting event with a large crowd.

“It’s unfortunate, but I think you got to live your life,” said Randy Bueckendorf, a St. Louis Blues fan.

“It won’t stop me from attending events like this because, basically, I’d have to sit home and be afraid,” said Karen Modesto, a St. Louis Blues fan.

Prior to Thursday’s game, the St. Louis Blues released a statement expressing sympathy. Some fans entering Thursday’s game said a tragedy can occur anywhere.

“I feel like it adds a little bit of fear and also reminds you to keep your head on a swivel,” said Alyssa Stevens, a St. Louis Blues fan.

FOX 2 asked the Blues if the shooting in Kansas City prompted any security changes Thursday.  A spokesperson said the team already employs high-level security practices at the Enterprise Center and Stifel Theatre.

Fans entering games must also pass through magnetometers.  The spokesperson said the devices were replaced with new ones this season, providing a higher level of detection while enabling fans to pass through faster.
