ST. LOUIS — St. Louis City police have identified the two women killed as 42-year-old Laticha Bracero and 21-year-old Alyssa Cordova. The Chicago mother and daughter were in St. . Louis for the Drake concert.

The tragedy unfolded Wednesday night  at 18th and Olive as fans  were walking from the enterprise center to their cars.

“A gray Jeep Cherokee was traveling east on Olive at a high rate of speed, violating red electric signals  as the jeep approached 18th Street. The driver violated the red electric signal and side swiped the front  of a silver Mitsubishi that was traveling north on 18 after the initial collision,” said Captain Angela Dickerson, St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. “The Jeep Cherokee began to rotate  and struck two pedestrians, a mother and daughter, who were walking north across Olive in the crosswalk with the right away and through them to the northside walk of Olive.”

Four other people, including two teenagers, were injured  in the crash. Police say the 22-year-old Jeep driver remains in critical condition. The circuit attorney’s office is reviewing the case and has 24 hours to file charges.

A friend of the family has set up a GoFundMe and says the mother was a  hard-working supervisor for a bank and her only child, Cordova, was a college student and worked part time.

We are told Cordova loved music concerts and although she was old enough to travel to concerts on her own, her mom would always escort her. The two were inseparable and shared a strong bond.

Authorities say speeding in the downtown area remains a  major problem. It was just last February when a man was charged in a crash that forced the amputation of Janae Edmondson’s legs.

The attorney for Daniel Riley returned to court today and wants the court to delay a trial. The trial was scheduled for early March, citing that they haven’t had time to look at new evidence.

Riley is charged with two felonies and three misdemeanors after the devastating accident.
Edmonson was hit and pinned when the car flipped. She’s since returned to her home near Nashville. Tennessee to recover.
