Investigators say the SUV driver was briefly stopped at a crossover in the westbound direction of Route W before attempting to proceed along U.S. Route 61. A crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol states that Benskin was traveling in the southbound direction of U.S. 61 as the SUV driver “failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to yield.”

MSHP says the front of the SUV struck the right side of the motorcycle. Benskin was rushed to a hospital shortly after the crash and was later pronounced deceased.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol, along with the St. Charles County and Moscow Mills police departments, have assisted with the investigation.
