ST. LOUIS – Missouri is ranked ninth worst in the nation for food insecurity, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. To help remedy that, St. Louis University is partnering with the Neighbors Credit Union and Operation Food Search.

It’s part of their ‘Block Out Hunger’ campaign. Every time a SLU basketball player on the men’s or women’s team blocks a shot during a game, neighbors will donate $20 to Operation Food Search. There have already been 98 blocks this season, raising nearly $2,000.

They’re also donating money for free throws and 3-pointers. We’ll hear more from organizers about the campaign later Monday morning.
