ST. LOUIS – The Kansas City Chiefs are Super Bowl champions once again after their nail-biting defeat over the San Francisco 49ers.
It was a close game that went into overtime. The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25–22. By the end of the fourth, the score was 19-19. This was only the second time in NFL history that a Super Bowl game went into overtime.
With seconds left in the game, Patrick Mahomes threw the game-winning pass, and Mecole Hardman sealed the deal with a 3-yard touchdown. With back-to-back Super Bowl wins and three in five seasons, the Chiefs have reached what some are calling ‘dynasty’ status. The winning didn’t stop there.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes went on to make history as the third NFL player to win the Super Bowl MVP title back-to-back. He joins Hall of Fame quarterbacks Bart Starr and Terry Bradshaw in holding that honor. Mahomes is also tied with Hall of Famer Joe Montana for the second-most Super Bowl MVPs in NFL history, trailing only Tom Brady, who won five.

Fans erupted into cheers the moment they realized the ‘W’ was secured. There were watch parties here in St. Louis and, of course, in the Power and Light District in Kansas City.
