ST. LOUIS — A brighter day with plenty of sunshine to start but we’ll see some mid- to high-level clouds return as the day goes on. Highs near 50. Overnight, we’ll have lows in the 30s and we’ll start to see the southern storm system impact the region.
Early Monday morning, we’ll see rain building into the area and quickly mixing with and/or changing to all snow. This still looks to mainly impact southeastern MO and southwestern IL. There will be a band of heavier snow that sets up where accumulations will be higher due to the heavier snow overcoming the warm ground temperatures.
The exact location of where this band sets up is still a bit uncertain but for now it looks to be south and southwest of the metro. In this area, we could see wet snow accumulations of 4+ inches and this is where travel will become hazardous.
For the metro, I’m not anticipating accumulating snow but we could have a few showers mixing with wet snow in the early Monday morning hours. We could see a light dusting on grassy and elevated surfaces as it built up through the morning and early afternoon. The storm pulls out of the region and precipitation comes to an end Monday night.
Past Monday, the forecast looks quiet with milder temperatures, especially Wednesday and Thursday, where temperatures will approach 60 degrees. Another front moves through mid- to late-week, which will cool our numbers back down to closer to normal for this time of year.
