KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Brittany Mahomes, co-owner of the Kansas City Current and wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, has been named a 2024 Sport Illustrated Swim rookie.
Brittany Mahomes will be featured in the publication’s 60th anniversary issue. Sports Illustrated and Travel Belize posted the news on their Instagram accounts Thursday morning. She was photographed in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize, for the 2024 issue.
The magazine said it’s proud to welcome her to the Sports Illustrated family, and she will undoubtedly empower women all over the world.
“Brittany Mahomes is your newest 2024 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Rookie! Owner of the Kansas City Current NWSL team, former pro athlete, wife and mother, Brittany emerges as the epitome of a modern-day powerhouse,” the editor-in-chief of Sports Illustrated, MJ Day said.
Sports Illustrated said all of these qualities made her the perfect fit to be a model for women’s empowerment.
Mahomes said she hopes this opportunity inspires other women to chase their dreams.
“I want people to know that they can accomplish anything, even things you never thought would be possible in your wildest dreams,” Mahomes said. “I hope this sets the bar for women’s sports everywhere.”
The announcement comes just days before Super Bowl LVIII, where her husband’s team, the Kansas City Chiefs, will take on the San Francisco 49ers.
