ST. LOUIS – A former convicted murderer was sentenced to over nine years in prison Tuesday for possessing a firearm almost two years ago, according to a release.
On July 20, 2022, officers from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department pulled over a stolen Hyundai during a time of thefts of Kia’s and Hyundai’s. The car had no rear license plate and the steering column was severely damaged, allowing it to be driven without a key.
51-year-old Lucky B. Miner was inside the vehicle. Police recognized Miner from prior encounters when he stepped out of the car.
Miner walked away and towards a home, grabbing a chrome pistol from his waistband, officials said. He attempted to open the front door of the home but failed, and he tried using his shoulder to force the door open.
Police were able to detain him before he could succeed.
Miner was sentenced to 15 years in prison in 1998 for second-degree murder in a bench trial.
Miner pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm in November. He is sentenced to 110 months in prison.
