BERKELEY, Mo. – The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis has been requested to assist in an investigation after two people were shot Monday afternoon while riding a MetroBus.

The shooting happened at 2:30 p.m. in the 8200 block of Airport Road.

The victims were taken to an area hospital.

Bi-State Development, which operates Metro, released a statement in the aftermath of the shooting:

This afternoon shots were fired on a MetroBus that was stopped at a bus stop on Airport Road. Law enforcement immediately responded and Metro Transit is fully cooperating with investigators in this ongoing investigation. This brazen act is yet another example of the violent crime crisis we are seeing in our region. All requests for information about this crime should be directed to the investigating law enforcement officers.
